BSI participates at leading global food safety conference

19 January 2007

BSI Management Systems is proud to be associated with the CIES and its annual food safety conference in Munich, Germany from 31st January to 2nd February 2007. BSI Management Systems is a global provider of management systems third party and customised assessment, certification and training services for the food industry and many of its experts from around the world will be on hand to impart their knowledge and expertise.

The CIES conference has now firmly secured its place as the only truly international gathering of industry leaders in food safety, with attendees including major retailers and manufacturers and players from all parts of the food business. Companies speaking at the conference include Metro, Hannaford Bros., Kraft, Unilever, Bakkavör, McDonalds, Tesco, Royal Ahold, Carrefour, Migros and Danone. Keynote speakers represent most European countries as well as South Africa, US, China and Canada. As ever the programme is full and varied, with not only formal presentations, but also opportunities for debate and discussion and plenty of time for informal contacts. The organizers expect to be welcoming 500 participants from over 40 countries to the event.

Organisations involved in the food supply chain are facing escalating demands to demonstrate that their management practices and procedures are of a consistently high standard across their business operations. Issues such as food safety scares, ethical trading pressures and product quality and safety have put the accountability and transparency of the food sector under the spotlight. With supply chains now more diverse and internationally spread, bringing increased risk to those managing them, the support of an accredited certification body, such as BSI, is increasingly important.

With its unique pedigree in global management systems assessments, and a recognised worldwide reputation, BSI is able to bring a high level of technical capability and auditor delivery to the implementation of global, national, private and public standards and specifications.

Paul Lanham, Global Marketing Manager, BSI Management Systems added: “BSI is one of the largest and most widely respected certification bodies in the world. With a proven track record of delivering value to the food sector BSI is delighted to be involved in what is arguably the most important annual global food safety conference.

"BSI looks forward to seeing you at the conference’s exhibition area on Stand 8."
